What it does
The Onboarding & Activation Designer designs the full post-signup first-run experience and activation strategy. The output is an actionable onboarding flow document that fixes the "users sign up but don't stick around" problem.
It works from four core principles: Time-to-Value is everything (remove every step between signup and core value), One goal per session (focus the first session on a single successful outcome), Do, Don't Show (interactive > tutorial), and Progress creates motivation (progress bars, completion celebration).
The skill first defines the aha moment — the action retained users take that churned users don't, the earliest indicator of future engagement. It then picks a first-30-seconds approach (Product-first / Guided setup / Value-first), builds a 3-7 item onboarding checklist (ordered by value, starting with quick wins), turns empty states from dead ends into onboarding opportunities, and designs a coordinated trigger-based email sequence (welcome, incomplete 24h/72h, activation celebration, feature discovery). For the existing experience it produces an Onboarding Audit: each issue as Finding → Impact → Recommendation → Priority.
