About the skill

What it does

The launch skill plans a product/feature/release launch end-to-end so it builds compounding momentum and converts scattered attention into owned relationships. It applies three frameworks together:

ORB channel framework — sorts channels into Owned (email, blog, community — direct, algorithm-free, compounds over time), Rented (X, LinkedIn, YouTube, marketplaces — gives speed, not stability), and Borrowed (guest content, collaborations, influencers — instant credibility). Core principle: every channel must ultimately funnel traffic back to owned assets. Notion (rented virality → owned onboarding) and TRMNL (a borrowed YouTube review → $500K in sales) are the proof cases.

Five-phase launch approach — Internal (1:1 early users, core validation) → Alpha (landing page + early-access form, first external validation) → Beta (work the early-access list, teaser marketing, buzz) → Early Access (leak screenshots/GIFs, run user research and a PMF survey, batch invites) → Full Launch (open self-serve, start charging, GA announcement across all channels). Each phase builds on the prior phase's feedback.

Product Hunt strategy — a before/day/after playbook: build a supporter network, optimize the listing, respond to every comment all day, and convert the traffic spike into owned relationships, backed by the SavvyCal and Reform case studies.

It also produces a three-tier launch checklist (Pre-Launch / Launch Day / Post-Launch) and an update-prioritization matrix (Major / Medium / Minor).

When to use it

When you're about to release a product, major feature, or update publicly; when considering a Product Hunt / BetaList / Hacker News launch; when setting up a waitlist or early-access program; or whenever the question is "how do I launch this." For ongoing post-launch marketing use marketing-ideas, for launch email sequences use emails, for landing-page optimization use cro.

How do I use this skill?

You don't "run" a skill — after installing it you just tell the agent your task (e.g. ask for the relevant job), and the skill kicks in by itself when its description matches.

Upload the launch.zip you downloaded as-is — no packaging needed, the format is already correct (folder at root).

  1. Open Settings → Customize → Skills
  2. Upload → select the launch.zip you downloaded
  3. Claude reads SKILL.md; the name + description appear. Ready ✅

Scripts run in Anthropic's code-execution environment (sandbox) — not on your machine.
