What it does
Turns a food recipe into an auditable nutrition declaration + claim-compliance report. It first assembles each ingredient's per-100 g profile (priority: accredited ISO 17025 lab → supplier spec → USDA FoodData Central / TÜBER database), applies a moisture-loss/yield factor if cooking or drying is involved, and normalizes to the final product mass via mass-weighted aggregation. When no analytical energy figure exists, energy is computed with Atwater general factors (protein 4, digestible carbohydrate 4, fat 9, fibre 2, alcohol 7, polyol 2.4 kcal/g) and passed through a mandatory ±5% cross-check — a large deviation is flagged as a mass-balance/moisture error, never silently accepted.
The resulting per-100 g (or per-100 mL) values are tested against EU 1924/2006 and the Turkish Food Codex claim thresholds by solid/liquid phase, returning COMPLIANT / NON-COMPLIANT / BORDERLINE (±10%) for each target claim. %Reference Intake (RI) is computed against EU 1169/2011 Annex XIII NRVs. Finally a weighted 0-100 Compliance Score (calc consistency, claims met, panel completeness, data quality, absence of misleading claims) is reduced to a verdict.
When to use it
To build a nutrition panel in new-product R&D; to check whether a claim still holds after reformulation (sugar/fat reduction); for pre-export label screening; and to confirm the legal feasibility of "high protein / low fat / sugar-free" claims before the label is printed. Ideal as a fast reality check before commissioning accredited lab analysis.
Method / frameworks
The canon is standing regulation, not intuition: Atwater general factors (FAO Food & Nutrition Paper 77) for energy; Codex Alimentarius CAC/GL 2-1985 for nutrient declaration; EU 1169/2011 (FIC) for panel structure and RI; EU 1924/2006 + Turkish Food Codex for the closed claim list and thresholds; TGK Labelling Regulation for format/tolerance; USDA FoodData Central / TÜBER / McCance & Widdowson for composition data. Database values are estimates; without lab data nothing is called "label-ready" without a tolerance and gaps note.
