What it does
Plans the directory and backlink layer — the foundation layer of distribution — for a software product, end to end. The output is not a "submit here" list; it is a sequenced campaign plan: readiness check → tier triage → submission order → positioning copy → Product Hunt prep timeline → review protocol → destination-page architecture → weekly measurement targets.
The core philosophy is firm: directories alone do not generate meaningful leads. They do three things well — pass dofollow backlinks from high-DR sites (raising your DR so the whole site ranks more easily), open discovery surface (people browsing AI/SaaS directories are in-market buyers), and get cited by AI engines (ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity pull "best [category]?" answers from high-DR directories; AI-referred traffic converts 6-27× better than classic search). So the plan enforces "Three Hard Rules": (1) the foundation (single H1 + FAQ schema + structured data + asset set) must be live before submitting, (2) the destination pages the backlinks point at must be built first, (3) positioning must vary by tier — copy-pasted descriptions get penalized as duplicate content by AI engines.
When to use it
- When launching a product across Product Hunt + BetaList + AI directories.
- When planning an ongoing backlink / DR-raising campaign (lead-generating, not vanity).
- When standing up a review strategy (10-in-30) to make a G2 / Capterra listing actually work.
- When evaluating a niche-but-high-intent registry moat (Tier 4) for an MCP / agent product.
Method / frameworks
- Phase-0 readiness check (9 items): a "no" on items 1-7 is a hard block. Single-H1 + sequential heading hierarchy (2.8× citation rate; 87% of cited pages use one H1), FAQPage JSON-LD, Product/Organization/SoftwareApplication structured data.
- 13-tier directory catalog + triage: Tier 1 flagship (PH anchor) through Tier 13 niche verticals. Submit only where the product genuinely fits.
- Three Hard Rules: foundation-first, destination-first, positioning-by-tier.
- Product Hunt 3-week prep + 12:01 PT launch: 50+ supporters in the first 2 hours; ask for feedback, not upvotes (the 2026 algorithm weights comment quality over upvote count).
- G2 10-in-30 review protocol: 20 asks → ~50% conversion → 10 reviews; Grid threshold 10, category-page threshold 25.
- Destination-page architecture: /alternatives (5-15% conversion), /for + /use-cases, template gallery (Typeform 30K-signup pattern), self-authored "best of" listicle.
- GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): dense factual content, comparison tables, Crunchbase/LinkedIn/Wikidata claims for AI citation.
