About the skill

What it does

Generates full comparison and alternative pages to capture competitor search traffic and convert evaluation-stage buyers. It supports four formats: singular alternative (/[competitor]-alternative — active switching intent), plural alternatives (a list of 4-7 genuine options, research stage), you vs competitor (/vs/[competitor] — direct comparison), and competitor A vs competitor B (where you introduce yourself as the third option). Each page is built on a consistent spine: a TL;DR for scanners, category-by-category paragraph comparisons (features / pricing / support / ease of use / integrations), a tier-by-tier pricing table with total cost for a sample team, an honest "who it's for / not for" section, a migration path, and a CTA. Output also includes a single-source-of-truth YAML data file per competitor, SEO meta tags, and an FAQ schema suggestion.

When to use it

  • Building bottom-of-funnel SEO pages — "[competitor] alternative" and "[you] vs [competitor]" terms pull high-intent traffic.
  • When sales needs a battlecard / "who it's for" positioning for objection handling.
  • To convert users coming from a competitor, sharpen brand positioning, or build a comparison library at scale via programmatic SEO.

Method / frameworks

Four core principles drive the method: Honesty Builds Trust (acknowledge competitor strengths, be accurate about your limits — readers will verify), Depth Over Surface (go past feature checklists to explain why a difference matters), Help Them Decide (state clearly who each option fits), and Modular Content Architecture (centralized competitor data as a single source propagating to all pages). Positioning borrows the battlecard "We Win When / We Lose When" and Fact–Impact–Act logic. The research process covers hands-on product trial, pricing research, G2 / Capterra / TrustRadius review-mining, and interviews with customers who switched. The SEO layer adds per-format keyword mapping, internal linking (a hub page), and comparison/FAQ schema markup.
